RHEOLOGICAL BEHAVIOR AND MICRO-STRUCTURE OF CHLORINATED POLYETHYLENE MODIFIED BITUMEN

Abstract: The chlorinated polyethylene modified bitumen (PMB-CPE) was obtained by adding some amount of chlorinated polyethylene into base bitumen ZH-701. The rheological characterization and micro-structure of PMB-CPE was studied by using dynamic mechanical analysis over wide range of temperatures and frequencies. It was found that the polymer net-structure was formed in PMB-CPE, which made the binder elasticity of PMB-CPE increase at high temperature. The phase angle (d) changed a little with the temperature decreasing, showing that there existed the trend to elastic body in PMB-CPE, resulting in its flexibility improved and anti-breakage at low temperature enhanced.
